Upgrade of your security system before PSTN is switched off

Openreach are going to switch off the UK’s Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in phases resulting in the complete closure of PSTN in 2025. Work on this will start as early as April 2022. The closure of PSTN will impact the security system of your business if your security system is using PSTN.

Your current security system could very well be sending out intruder signals via a telephone line using PSTN. When these will be closed your security system will no longer be able to send these signals. Or alternatively you already have a wireless system to send intruder signals but your system uses PSTN as a backup. In either case you will need to upgrade your security system to wireless signalling.

Your alarm signalling system currently uses a digital communicator which is connected directly to your phone line. This will not operate after the Openreach changes.
